Into the Desert

“It is not that Christianity has been tried and found wanting, but that it has been found difficult and left untried.” —G.K. Chesterton

Today is Ash Wednesday. Our journey into the desert has commenced. For 40 days, we will wander but we will not be lost. The Lord knows our heading even if we do not.

Stay close to him during this time with prayer, fasting, serving the poor, being fed by the supernatural food found in the sacraments, and through the companionship of others, who like you, have been brave enough to sojourn in the desert.

My advice: Pack light. The more of the world we try to take with us will slow us down, tire us, and hinder us from following where the Lord is leading.

I will see you in the desert, my friends. Pray for me as I will pray for you.
